the PANGANAY PROJECT
Stories of the women who learned to carry it all.
Ate...
We grew up being the responsible one.
The strong one.
The one who understood.
The one who said:
"Ako na."
But somewhere along the way, we started asking:
"Ako naman?"
I'm collecting the stories of 100 Filipina eldest daughters in Dubai to explore what it really means to be the panganay — the responsibilities we carry, the expectations we inherit, and the lives we're learning to create for ourselves.

10 questions · 5–10 minutes
Your story may help another Ate feel less alone.
Being panganay isn't just about being born first.
It's about becoming responsible early.
It's being the daughter who:
helps.
adjusts.
provides.
understands.
sacrifices.
keeps going.
Sometimes by choice.
Sometimes because there was no other choice.
And sometimes, we don't even realize how much we've been carrying until we finally put it down.
The Panganay Project is a space to explore those stories.
